Ultrasound Services

A pelvic ultrasound is a safe and painless test that uses sound waves to make images of the pelvis. During the examination, an ultrasound machine sends sound waves into the pelvic area and images are recorded on a computer. The black-and-white images show the internal structures of the pelvis, such as the bladder, and in girls, the ovaries, uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes.
A transvaginal ultrasound, also called an endovaginal ultrasound, is a type of pelvic ultrasound used by doctors to examine female reproductive organs. This includes the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, and vagina.
Obstetric ultrasound uses sound waves to produce pictures of a baby (embryo or fetus) within a pregnant woman, as well as the mother’s uterus and ovaries. It does not use ionizing radiation, has no known harmful effects, and is the preferred method for monitoring pregnant women and their unborn babies.
An ultrasound is the most common way to determine a baby’s gender. When determining the sex of the fetus on ultrasound, the sonographer will look for characteristic features known as signs.
